#What kind of game would you make?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Personally I'd make a dungeon builder as that'd be rlly fun
ive always wanted a monster taming/raising + farming game.... one day...
What is slime rancher then?
you cant really do much with the slimes ):
It’s a lighter version but
Probably a weird amalgamation between a colony/settler sim in a ruined world which uses grimy gritty mechs to gather resources.
There is an achievement for playing with a tabby slime
i'd make a saturday morning cartoon style jrpg. always been my dream, i used to make sprite and screencap mockups all the time.
But I get it
not exactly what you described but check out "The Riftbreaker."
I'd make a game where you can customize your abilities with addon's and modifiers that allows you to make your abilities do anything you want but also mix it with a base building/farming feel. something between cult of the lamb & core keeper but with the above mentioned ability modification.
My personal is a 2d souls-like that would be a light mix of platforming and Demons' Souls kind of gameplay with battle feeling a bit heavy/clunky, with a lot of environmental storytelling that would expand with each play cycle. It is, in fact, something that I hope to develop one day in Godot.
It likely wouldn't be the game for everyone, but the idea is to have a challenge there, which can either be overcome by combination of skill and determination.
Ah yeah I think I've seen some gameplay of that. Personally I'd make it a lot more grimey looking. There's something about massive metal hulking beasts that don't look like sleek models that tickles my neurons.
👀 loving the discussion here 🙂
I wanted to make an open world rpg with classes typical from fantasy/medieval movies. I recently watched Frieren and I would love to be able to have an immersive experience in a game where I could be a mage and do little side quests and adventures, finding multiple npc, players to befriend, little villages, a big forest, defeat some monsters...I don't know any game like this, so I think it would be great. Something in the style of Breath of the Wild, but more medieval like
😂 yeah I get that
A game where you can do all kinds of things,
To keep it Short, take Core Keeper and fuse it with Pokémon, Monster Hunter, Animal Crossing, a bit of Skyrim, some Management like Roller Coaster Tycoon or Anno and some Tower Defense. And overall a Mix of Fantasy and Sci Fi :3
If I had the time and skills, I would make a story-rich RPG (kinda like the Baulder's Gate series) but based off of an isekei power fantasy where the end goal is to get powerful enough to either fight god or become a god if you want.
As a possible second game. A zombie survival game not set in america. Change of scenery. Change of weapons. Change of looks of the undead.
I'd like to make a game similar to what was described here, but with one specific point. There isn't one main overarching story that you have to complete. Maybe there's multiple different threats that the fantasy world is facing and you don't necessarily have to face all of them. Another thing I'd like to incorporate is some kind of system that makes working for new skills or abilities feel unique. maybe you have to spend some time every day for a week training or studying, doing harder and harder minigames to unlock a new spell or ability.
My dream game is to make an open world rpg but just the normal kind like DnD. No extra lore no grinding for hours just pure fun. Occasionally updated by new regions and items.
Another one is a monster catcher game like pokemon
I'd make a third person open world RPG with characters drawn in the style of Hades, but with gameplay like Sekiro or Saints Row? But it would be hand animated so it would look like a 2D animated movie?
I'm a huge wrestling fan so I'd probably make it like a rise to the top of the card but add some kind of sci fi elements in there? (I know my idea probably sounds all over the place but it makes sense in my head lol)
My other idea was another open world RPG, kind of like Assassin's Creed but set in like, a West African country and with predominantly POC characters and NPCs 🥹
Or a Caribbean country!!
I'd say.... A 2.5D RPG that is similar to Hyper Light Drifter, with a style that is more similar to the likes of Cult of the lamb. but themed in a japanese sort of... yeah
Tried it a few months ago, but didnt stick to it sadly.
Open world multiplayer game with similar aesthetics to core keeper. Similar to the game from the anime "Shanri-la frontier"
A metroidvania with very grand, scenic areas and a realistic story. :3
I would like to make an action game with a story and multiple playable characters with unique movesets.
I've got several that I'd like to do...but I think that my first one would be an Endless Runner that had a ton of Story elements, similar to Cookie Run: Ovenbreak
I want to make a game that is fun, not for profits, would either be a 2.5 d or 2d platformer like ori and the wotw or a roguelike similar to ror or dead cells
I'd love to make a soulslike 2d pixel cyberpunk kinda game
I would love a text based RPG that uses AI to make a sort of online D&D campaign... though I feel that today, trolls would make that impossible.
I've played those online text based D&D inspired games many, many, many years ago; trolls were working hard back then, too.
I would like to make games based on folklore (childen and adult) from all over the world. There are lots of stories to choose from, in my opinion.
1990s Barbie Horseback Riding PC -esque game.
Girls only want one thing and it’s Barbie horseback riding adventures meets hyrule meets farming meets base building
• one idea for ‘quest givers’: There are adventure scouts at the barn that are working on their badges. But they’re dogs. So you can choose to help and each one would have different adventure type unlocks.
Adventure scout bandit (a border collie dog) (also dogs can be renamed but they have a default) (they can also be pet and given treats) finds secret maps that always lead somewhere new and beautiful.
Adventure scout Newt would have stuff like catching frogs at a pond
Adventure scout _____ would have quests to clean up garden areas
• The currency you get in the game can buy you horse accessories, decorations, seeds, expansions, etc…
• Depending on the vibes of your stable, other animals might appear and hang around.
Like deer if you plant apple trees. 🌳
Hedgehogs if you plant whatever hedgehogs like
• And there’s a friend mechanic (like pawns in dragons dogma) where your friends’ stable hands or whatever show up and volunteer work.
• Friends’ horses will also load in as horses in pasture and in stalls 🐎
edit 1: you can race friends on horseback or just ride trails too
edit 2: there is also fishing. 🎣 You can see the fish in the water (like fishing in ocarina of time)
edit 3: if you make this game, please bring me in on it because I would be heartbroken if it misses the mark edit 3.1: I have a degree in agricultural science and will direct the whimsical realism if someone with a studio does this It is for real what everyone wants. The cashier at HP Books, every discord game server I’ve brought it up in, literally everyone goes ‘oh my god yaaaas I would totally play that I loved that game so much’. Every year I google if anything like this exists and find ever growing Reddit threads of other people asking the same.
This neeeeds to be a game! I would love to play this with my girlfriend!
Ah an interesting topic. I think about game design ALL the time. I have notebooks going back many years. Without getting into too many specifics, what I would make would be:
● infinite (no it would not require infinite storage space),
● randomly generated (according to genre/environment specific rules)
● ever changing (based on many factors including how the player plays, npc actions, environmental changes, incursions, etc.),
● multi-dimensional (though rendered probably in 2D given limited resources and ease of multi-platform play across pc/tablet/phone/browser/etc),
● encompass many possible genres (fantasy, scifi, steampunk, alien, gothic, etc.),
● include a wide variety of dynamic environments,
● rich cross-environment crafting systems (combining materials from one or more genres/environments),
● base building, gardening, farming, automation, many different forms of life, pets, breeding, vendors/npcs/etc, circuitry (again encorporatiing components from all genres), etc. etc.
● no mounts (areas/environments are many but not huge) but a wide variety of transportation systems/mechanisms/sub-areas/devices/etc) between areas
● all interacting in an a-life npc ai sort of way (entity type specific rule based, rich but though nothing too complicated)
● all player community customizable.
Lots and lots of stuff but all rule driven and not that hard to build or modify given a good initial framework.
Cozy farming game but on the MOON
Lucky for you, The Planet Crafter has you covered, lol. You can farm on an actual alien planet, but the planet starts out as uninhabitable but you slowly introduce atmosphere and life to it.
So many cool ideas. Lots of creative explorers here for sure!
Well there goes my magnum opus /j
Realistically I think I'd make a game to 80% completion then move onto the next project 100 times
Some type of multiplayer adventure game that revolves around helping out town-folk and upgrading a cozy tavern or social hub
I would make a game that when you start your adventure you’re already leveled up to max, and you get points to spend on perks/equipment. Then you just go blasting through levels.
I would love to make my assassin story into an rpg game. you level up and get new abilities by taking down other assassins there's a lot to the story. hopefully someday ill be able to make it.
I feel revealing what kind of game I make is revealing trade secrets but I suppose I can share genre, roguelike Metroidvania puzzle platformer
I think I melded two or three games there
Honestly, a survival crafter game with lore surrounding science and magic, history on the world the game is taking place in, robots and skeletons because there are games with minions but so far all the games I've played kinda make the whole summoner class bland, you just get the minions, they attack mindlessly and are weak, and the few ones that use minions in non combat mode feel like a wireless conveyer line that is limited
Gardening and enemies, plant based mobs are in my opinion something that is not explored as much so I'd have mobs that infect players or have a main directive to find a place to root down and grow in a pleasant environment for them and defending sed area.
Also building, making areas with decorations and wiring/mechanical constructions indestructible for the sake of giving players the option to make mini games that have mobs and hazards in them.
And magic, most games just have it in potions and combat, what about enhancing plants or areas? Making golems out of different materials like a plain rock golem that just brutishly guards a area, or a sculpted golem with added gems enhanced with magic water and or plants giving it higher functions and sentience sentience to a degree to enhance the lore.
Soooo yeah, I know I'll never be able to be a part of a game like that and when something comes close to what I incision I take notes to add to sed game and try to have fun with them.
Ps:Also battle umbrellas and lanterns, having an umbrella and a lantern as a weapon is something that not many games touch on at all
My poor brain...But I like it haha
10/10 would do battle with an umbrella 🫡
These are all super creative! Y'all have alot of cool ideas
ty it's technically two games in one I melded there so yeah a roguelike, and a Metroidvania puzzle platformer
Btw cooooould I message you directly so that I wouldn't fill up the chat here xD?
Terraria has a lantern weapon
Oo? I'll have check it out>.>
How is it called btw?
It drops from empress of light
I am a game developer! I've been making a metroidvania inspired by hollow knight and celeste. Game dev is a very fun fulfilling hobby, I think you should all try it and see if you enjoy it
I'd like to make a reverse-roguelike-tower defence.
You play as the "villain" sending waves of troops down a lonely-path to the castle.
Each round you get 5 cards, you can choose 3. These cards do anything from a new monster batch, new equipment, buffs and one time spells.
You can roll a d20 for your "minion limit" for the round. (as rounds pass you get more dice?)
You then set up your waves, their timing, their frequency and from what portals/entrances they'll embark from.
You can view the paths/towers/defences the enemy castle/ai has and is building for the next round.. but you need to learn what spells their wizards have, and plan your routes to avoid thier towers and traps. Some paths might lead out to new treasures/weapons/units for you. The enemy might be defending those paths(eg: prison break sidequest)
Every minion that makes it to the castle earns you gold for meta-progression unlocks and weakens the enemy foundation. After ##minions breach the castle you beat the level and can move on to the next level.
You can have some rpg-elements to yourself. Maybe you can get a few special units like Vampires or an OgreWolfrider.
Easy multiplayer vs mode, with each player playing each side.
Levels can be seed-generated so they can be shared easily.
Visually can be a 2D or 2.5Dperspective. On a hexagonal grid.
your units;
- basic goblin, one-shot kills him, you have hundreds of them to spam. he's not bright and will follow your path exactly
- bubble witch, she'll project shields for her wave giving them some longevity, but she'll also be the focus of certain castle towers
- blood orcs, these guys will stop and damage towers, so they can make clear paths, but they're slow. send them out first so they can get to places
- wolfhounds, fast little guys. helps to reveal and trigger traps ahead of your goblins
- scout snakes, these guys find new hidden paths and treasures for you to explore next time. a heavy cost in your minion count but getting just one down the path might help you in future turns
-- Where did this idea come from? I'm old. 😂
I've been playing and modding games for a long time. I've thought about this game for a long time. I once tried to make it myself in unity. I gave up midway through with a half-completed project. I could never settle on final decisions. Game Dev is HARD. I appreciate anyone in the industry that actually gets to a released product, as a lot of stuff tends to hit "the cutting room floor."
Kind of a longshot, but this project now has a demo out, and if you'd like to check it out, the link to the itch.io page is in my about me : ] thanks for reading
A mail delivery game. One with quirky characters that have their own lives and schedules that you can follow and learn. So you can better deliver their mail to them, of course!
Maybe it'd have three different towns and progression in the game makes it faster to get from town to town. Events might cut off the main road, forcing you to learn new tricks and routes that ultimately make your trips faster.
Or maybe it's all just one sprawling metropolis and you have to learn the intricate back streets and parkour techniques.
I spent a ton of time playing Rune Factory and Elder Scrolls games. I adore whenever a game has NPCs with simulated lives outside of the player. Also so many games have you playing courier already. Why not embrace it and get a cute uniform to go with the job?
RPG survival builder, not dissimilar from Core Keeper, or Stardew Valley, just more first or third person.
A game like core keeper because core keeper is the best game In history
I'd like to be able to someday make a TTRPG with heavy emphasis on skill interactions and out of combat development of a character's skills. Maybe something along the lines of a game where every unit can take every class, but some units are more talented at some, whereas they might have a talent of something but no high skill ceiling, or a high skill ceiling and no talent- basically a game where you're as focused on properly training and assembling your units to their best capabilities as you are winning battles
core keeper 2
I'd make a game involving cats...lots of cats...every breed and highly customizable... plus ability to make a character to care for the cats that is also fully customizable...an open world sim with full build customizing and free roaming...it'll have countless quests to do so you'll never get bored (well hopefully never)...open it eventually for talented creators to put things up for it...possibly would have it be co-op or multiplayer but it still a cozy game with only private/group voice and text chat allowed in game so it'll keep toxicity out for the most part...also I wouldn't in a million years have my game linked to social media, youtube, or discord unless I had comments/chat turned off...seen enough toxic cruel stuff to last me a lifetime so no one will ruin my game if I could make one that is...again all hypothetical
have you checked out the game "Lake"? it's a nice chill story game that you delivery mail...I liked it...it available on all platforms i believe...there's also a cozy game called "Mail Time" on pc and Switch
