If you are struggling with how to set up efficient, automated farms, I can come help you!

You can determine where you want it built, or how big or small you want it, etc.. (I can usually fit it within existing builds just fine, depending on the size)

And ofc you can choose if I only use materials from you (in your world), or I can bring them from my world for you. ^^

well gonna have lunch in a few minutes first but.. you can decide waht you think is more important - i'd recommend getting either a caveling farm (for a variety of items); but can be a bit tricky to manage all the items it produces; or a crysatl crust farm, for end-game materials (but slower)

would help if you could yourself 'prepare' the area - however big you want the spawn area to be.. bigger = more spawns..

I'd recommend aiming for around 50x50 or so in size

I have some small area’s set up but I know it could be done tremendously better then what I have lol

They are set up as a fighting area for them but it’s just not very effective and it was my first time really messing with it lol

I see - There are specific designs where you let monsters from different families spawn and fight/kill eachother - but personally I am not a fan of them. I usually set up a farm specifically per family of monsters - so I can safely fully automate it 🙂

Blue = Water (with glass bridges - so you can do maintenance if needed)
Brown = Root seed
Green = branch/wood
light green = cutting spot
red = drill
light & dark grey = conveyors (seperated by path)
yellow = 'empty' flooring
orange = robot arm

dark red = engine

Wires are hidden underneath walls and conveyors where needed.

IMO not really - it's inefficient and you'll get stuck with a lot of those tentacles that dont move

I noticed sth really strange. It seems the root overgrew and destroy itself. You can see the hovering seeds and wood pieces inside the root zone. I dont know when it first happened. It doesnt affect much. The farm is still functioning well but I think u should know. @limpid maple

haven't seen that in any of my other farms yet (couple of them are on a server) -might be something weird going on when the game loads iin.. or underground stalagmites.. if you can pinpoint an actual reason that woul dbe useful info o.o

yea it's layed out a bit weirdly - some distances are too long.. the little hole you see in the wood is gonna be bad; so I understand why you're missing a few spots

in basic concept this layout is wrong; the wood branches aren't connected properly, so not all seeds can grow through it; and you're exceeding max range in some cases, so not all seeds can grow at all

Quite honestly - the easiest fix would be to redo the entire thing, but iwth a proper layout this time

and that depends on what you want: you play melee? or magic? perhaps you want certain resources? what and why do you want a mob farm?

I usually recommend 3 mob farms. Slimefarm (for.. slime.. potions), caveling (mech parts and lots of salvage), and crystal for rare gemstones

belts push mobs to where you want them to, and arms do the collection

you can kill with spikes and arms right next to spikes if your mob farm doesn't have infighting

otherwise they can break your robot arms, hence why most people run belts into walls and have arms behind walls

yes, provided you don't also have stone cavelings in there, because Caveling Brutes are massive jerks

that and your mold should preferably be placed so that mobs can easily focus on them, to prevent the build-up of tentacles

mixed mob farms (where monsters fight and kill eachother) always come with a (small) risk of stuff breaking though; at least if you still plan on using turrets. So I would definately not recommend one of my standard setups for a mixed farm.

radioactive crystals would be a good idea for that, though you then have to make sure everything dies by the time they reach collection, and you have to also have a kill chamber with turrets still, if you have crystal mobs

hm.. the way I lay out the parts of wood seeds (that actually grow the wood) is available on a youtube vid (not mine) - and I can find you a screenshot where you can see the entire farm for each wood type in 1 view - the technical aspect of how wood moves around should be pretty self-explanatory. Add it to the 2 pictures 3 lines of chat above here (the map picture showing how I lay out the 3 farms together, with the picture showing how it all comes together to a single pick up area, should get you a long way.

the water I have around it has glass bridge above it - it basically allows you to still be able to walk around and fix things if needed.
The little black room near the bottom left is wehre the engine is.. and there's just an electrical wire running underneath the walls..

there's no way to properly automated farming yet; you can get a semi-setup for mushrooms only, but that's not good food..

it shows how to make a kill room; the room works for any type of farm. I show the process of setting it up - you can make the spawn room (where the mobs spawn) as big or small as you want.. bigger just spawns monsters faster.
