So with the new year being just around the corner I thought it'd be fun to try a new playthrough of core keeper. But instead of rushing through the game I thought it could be fun to slow it right down to make the most out of each section of the game and each biome. So I came up with this idea of playing on one world for a year! Which was inspired by Throarbins terraria one year challenge. So here is the idea I've put in place (progression only goes up to 8 months atm but that could change in the future)
#Core Keeper One Year Challenge

I figured this challenge would give the player a chance to enjoy every aspect of the game and maybe even play differently and focus on building or things players often ignored
Very cool idea, I like it!
I love the idea and I would so love if you could make a youtube or something different Video of it and Post it online
That could be cool, I'll see what I can do
good idea but 1 month in the undergrounds? 10 minutes of playtime every day
Yeah... the first month is gonna be a long one, I'm still debating if clay Caves should be included in January too
But then it might take away from the undergrounds
Adding this to the list of my content next year ๐
Awesome! I'd love to see how other people get on with this challenge
I'm thinking of maybe making the first week be the dirt biome and then after the 1st week of January you could explore the clay Caves and then Feb be Forgotten Ruins and etc.. I think it would make the first month more enjoyable without taking away from the first biome . But let me know what you think
Hmmm I kinda like just sticking to the dirt biome/meadow. Makes you actually explore it more instead of trying to find the next best upgrade
If you want to go a full year you could build it around boss progression rather than biome progression (although i don't its very fun since unlike terraria, core keepers core progression is built around exploration rather than bosses). Core Keeper has (currently) the same amount of bosses as terraria (if you don't count event minibosses and count both evil bosses as one boss).
Following the original challenge that would mean:
||January: Glurch and Ghorm.
February: Malugaz, (No goblin army equivalent).
March: Hive Mother.
April: King Slime and Ivy.
May: Azeos, (No pirates equivalent)
June: Morpha.
July: Igneous, Ra-akar, Omoroth.
August: Druidra, Atlantean Worm.
September: (There is no pumpkin Moon or Frost Moon equivalent).
October: Crydra , (No Martian Madness Equivalent)
November: Pyrdra.
December: Urschliem, Core Commander.
Definitely a weird progression,||
I am excited to see people do this though since One Year One World was one of my favorite series and Core Keeper is one of my favorite games. Good luck to you all.
Actually I would like too help or play with you in that challenge if possible
Love the challenge! Curious what people would end up spending their time on each month. Will definitely keep an eye on it. Exciting!
I've finished my own personal line up. I think a mixture of exploration and boss fights will help and we'll still be receiving updates during the challenge so maybe it'll spice up the plan.
January: Undergrounds, Meadows, Glurch.
February: Clay Caves, Ghorm.
March: Forgotten Ruins, Malugaz, Hive Mother, King Slime.
April: Azeos' Wilderness, Ivy.
May: Mold Dungeons, Azeos.
June: Sunken Sea, Morpha.
July: Forlorn Metropolis, Omoroth.
August: Desert of Beginnings, Ra-akar.
September: Molten Quarries, Igneous.
October: Shimmering Frontier, Atlantean Worm, Druidra.
November: Passage, Urschliem, Crydra.
December: Core Commander, Pyrdra.
This looks like fun, and maybe I'll come up with some more decorating ideas for my main world while I'm digging through a new one.
I like this
Couldn't agree more. Share any ideas you have too! I'm always looking for some inspiration.
are there any set world settings, or everything default?
I'm leaving everything as default but you could change it depending on personal preference
perfect, thank you ๐
To mix it up I went with everything off besides normal ore generation ๐
What difficulty are you guys playing on?
Never had a full hard play through so went with that myself
I've set the biome chaos to low to minimize overlap so I'm not tempted to wander into new biomes ahead of schedule
I turned off biome chaos so I don't accidently walk into a biome outside of the month its supposed to be explored and set it to hard.
Good stuff, how are your worlds coming along? Been up to much so far? Not sure what to do myself yet so just searching for all the scenes I can and set up mob and crop farms.
I'm doing 10mins each day so I don't do it all in one go for dirt
Oh that's a very practical approach, good tip! I tend to abandon everything I'm working on and go full on when something novel grabs my attention. ๐
Really enjoyed your latest build on YouTube BTW, stunning!
Oh! Thank you so much โค๏ธ
The worst part of doing my standard vanity project with this was using a copper shovel for the whole thing.
Oh wow, I love it. Anything geometric and I'm hooked! I feel your shovel pains xD
How's everyone getting on?
great! my 10mins a day has served me well ๐
Wanted to test it first, but in my world i turned off ore generation and its kinda nice so far, slows down progression, only sources of ore are mobs, fishing and boxes. So eventually ill have to rely on boulders. But it makes ore feel alot more valuable.
Do my copper shovel and I have a hate-hate relationship going at the moment? Yes, yes we do. But I made another Celtic Knot and now all my cattle have a place to call home, so it was worth it.
Anybody else still at this?
Personally, I'm thrilled it's finally February and I can get into the Clay Caves--I went for a primarily Summoner build this time and I am constantly out of fiber, and my last grub kapok seeds died a sad death a week ago.
Yep! Still going ๐
Alright, i've completely nearly all my monthly goals. Now its time to build something, any suggestions?
This is cool! Are you still doing this challenge ?
Yep, spend most of my January killing shrooman brutes and most of my Feburary killing Ghorm (still no Amber Larvae).
On plus side it gives a lot of iron but that doesn't really effect my progression since im playing warlock and mage
Hey yall, I'm gonna be retrying this challenge for the coming year with a few slight changes
