I know we've got plenty of anime fans here on the Core Keeper server, and I'd love to know your favourite anime of all time or anything you're enjoying at the moment. Maybe there's something you didn't expect to enjoy but you found yourself really loving by the end of it?

My favourite anime of all time is the original Sailor Moon. It was 100% my gateway into anime and I've been a huge fan of the magical-girl genre ever since. I love Sailor Moon because it pushed a lot of boundaries for its time and it did a great job of showing that there's more than one way to be a hero. I've not found myself enjoying the reboot as much, but I like that more people might be introduced to it that way! Oh and I have a Sailor Moon tattoo haha.

The anime I'm enjoying the most at the moment are Demon Slayer (eagerly awaiting more episodes) and Dandadan, which has been so much fun and really surprised me with how deep it can be in between all the wacky action. I like how anime has evolved over the years and we're seeing a lot of convention breaking and genre defying choices being made, which makes for really rich story telling.

I'm also gonna take a moment to complain and say how absolutely gutted I am that there doesn't seem to be a second season of Land of the Lustrous in the works. I know the art style on that one was very divisive, but I loved it and thought the plot was super interesting. I've since read the manga, but I'd give anything to see it brought to life through animation. Even though it's probably not going to be continued, I'd still 100% recommend everyone watch the first season for something a little different.

Finally, it's subs over dubs all the way for me!

P.S. It goes without saying that some anime can be a little NSFW, so just a quick reminder that discussions here are governed by the wider Core Keeper server rules. In other words: keep it clean, folks!

kind of basic but i really enjoy digimon
the creature design is sometimes wack, but in a good way
it led to the discovery of my love for the monster taming/collection genre of games and fueled my drive to create art
i also enjoy Bungou Stray Dogs (i hope i got that right), all the characters are so cool and it just hits all the right beats for me
more recently i've been enjoying Dungeon Meshi because i do love a good anime with food and its creation as one of the main focuses
for movies, i am the basic studio ghibli enjoyer, but there are also some not made by ghibli that i like such as Maqia and the digimon war games movies (the latter will always hold a special place in my heart)

Studio Ghibli was my introduction to anime. I grew up watching Warriors of the Wind (which I do love this game does a homage to it.)

Right now I have been enjoying Kaiju 8. I also enjoyed Mashle. I love humor in my anime an they both have abundance of it.

I used to watch a lot of anime (ghibli as well, most of jjba, romcom slop 😔) but I don't and probably wont anymore unless one of my fav Mangas gets animated (no studio is/should ever gonna try to animate ANY Douman works,) because it is horrifically time consuming.

then again atleast an hour of my day is spent doomscrolling so maybe I should try to make time again

I remember watching Hunter X Hunter as my first anime, although I was a bit too young to properly understand it at the time. But I am a big fan of the Soul Eater and Fire Force anime and manga.
