#Does it have to be oriented doward? My

start like this
the spaces between the tilled areas are where you will put the flooring or walls
Why would it not work?
It doesn't matter where the trunk is facing as far as I know
No I thought you meant building it upwards instead of downwards.
yeah, that doeant matter
and you can do less than 5
5 is just the maximum amount of branches a seed can have
Oh, no you will be fine
a more clear photo
just waiting on growth lol
My proposition was instead of having a lot of pain building it, and waiting for channels of roots, just build the whole thing, then retroactively destroy the seeds and replant them to connect to the NEW network/channels.
I don't like this type because the backbone is vulnerable and mistakes can happen
Should work, but the issue is if you miss click and destroy the base you need to start over
You missed my screenshot, it was a less vulnerable version, let me look
All the farmland is where seeds would go.
you could do that. I would advise using a shovel, as it tends to stick to the highlighted square. The pickaxe and unarmed swings tend to attack a nearby object, rather than the highlughted square
So they are not all depending on single seds.
It's less efficient but more safe
what do you mean? I usually lay out walls behind the initial branch, and chip away at it as it grows
Yeah it seemed like a good mixture of the two, as I've destroyed my root seeds at least a few times.
well once you get them going, you can make thousands of wood in minutes
but ive seen several different ways to build them
I do this so I can single out branches for a mix of wood and planks
So the direction where they grow does matter if a piece breaks behind and grows back it the seeds in that spot won't contribute to the growth
and its really only an issue when youre getting it started
yeah, if you break a piece in front, you will have to wait til it regrows
but once its going...
I meant modular orientation. So the design of the whole thing. Can I rotate a farm 90 degrees, 180 degrees?
this is a few hours
absolutely
I was referring to the scenario where he said that he will place the initial seed and help the thing grow by placing additional seeds before it grew and replanting them
I did a base with a 3 branch making all planks, then one with a 5 branch for wood
Yes, but if you break the base at any point doesn't matter what design you use you need to start over
well, as long as the main part of it doent break youre good, but still, waiting for it to grow back is worth it
You can make a TON of wood this way

I havent really had any problems
although ive notices that when i place a wall with a torch on it near a branch, it will skip that square
B is where you accidentally break it, x is the seed, T is the trunk
In that scenario, you will need to break the 4th and 5th to salvage it
0000x0000
T0T0T0T0T0
T0T0T0T0T0
if you had it like this
you could do
0000x0000
TxTxTxTxTxT
TxTxTxTxTxT
Then plact the drills beneath the last branches
As long as you have the base structure down, it wont matter if youu destroy the upper parts
this is an upward facing one. got it working great with all 3 wood types
You are correct but a certain scenario if a trunk breaks at the 5th row from the top you need to destroy the seeds and replant them for the "max" efficiency
But tbh it doesn't really matter as you will get a lot of wood either way
Yeah, but the only way they will break is if you break them
yeah you will get a ton, no doubt
As I said before If you want to speed things up then that scenario can happen. if you are patient it cannot happen
yeah, but its only like a 10 minute wait lol
here is a good video on how to do it
see wood results max 0-100 CRAFTING in 50 minutes with 29K wood consumed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WespJjC3-G4
Instead of requiring 1 drill per root, why not stack roots. 5 drills can generate 15-18 wood a minute.
Do you have to wait for the originator seeds/network/channel to form completely before placing other seeds?
