#Pet Eggs can drop infinite pets

Hello everyone!
Here's a fun issue that we've seen some players having, and maybe you might have some insight on it too!

Issue
Some players have reported that they've cracked a pet egg open just to have an infinite amount of pets being spawned into their world (dropped from inventory and creating a line of dropped pets on the ground wherever they go).

Requested Information
In case this issue has happened to you, we'd like to know:

  • What were you doing when this issue happen?
  • Were you in multiplayer when this happened?

What's an egg look like internally? Does it have a count that is decremented? My guess is yes and the count has gone negative. So how would that happen? My guess is that the culprit is a broken mouse (or controller I suppose). More specifically one that bounces and it managed to decrement the count twice before the spawner code saw that the count was zero and removed the egg from their inventory.

Greetings, i have a problem. my game doesnt open and crashes after i start it, it started to happen after i installed 2 mods ingame, i even checked game folder files and compared it to my brothers files and its similar. i have it in xbox gamepass and i play on pc. is there someone who knows what to do?

Hey! This topic is for a specific bug we're trying to catch more information for. For future reference, you can ask similar questions in #🖐-game-questions .
If your game is crashing after installing mods, then there's something in one of the mods that is not up to date with the current update. We would advise you to choose the "Play Core Keeper no mods" option when starting the game and uninstalling the mods.

not had this bug happen but i have a theory on how it could be fixed (keep in mind i have never coded in my life and my only knowledge of this kind of stuff is from being a Zelda TOTK player) now then if the pet egg have a uses left counter that says "if uses left is 0 remove egg from player inventory" then if it becomes something like -1 it would not be removed so simply have something that checks the egg and if the number of uses left is anything but 1 remove the egg from the player inventory i dont know how hard this may be code and what else it might break just a idea (if this is to off topic please let me know i cant help when i have a idea i think might help i just have to share it im sorry if this is to off topic!)

the conveyor belts no longer work. They no longer pass anything on and the ores remain lying around.

I’d imagine it’s caused by some error with the egg, maybe it like, corrupts the value somehow, causing it to duplicate? I have no clue about how code works, so i could be wrong

Yeah, might be a bit more complicated though 😄
We tested a lot of possibilities, but seems hard to reproduce. We're still trying though! (yes, even after all this time :3 We do not give up!)
