notice we had an issue here.. well.. two...
a) the gold and iron smelters needed to be swapped
b) if a smelter is full with 999 ore... the arm will try to move more but drop it on the ground instead ?
and here's my setup
there are chests with:
- copper and tin
- iron and gold
- scarlet and octarine
- galaxite and solarite
Cool!!
I like that yours is heart shaped! - almost

Thankyou !
A little update, we now have a gate to each element for easier access if we need it.
Input is now a smelter too, so we can do up to 1998 ore at a time. (1 boulders worth?)
Swapped the Generators for Levers, this a) doesn't make such a noise racket, b) was cheaper, c) lets us turn the arms off if we wish?
Added another light source pillar, and some decorations to the north wall
Added an "overflow chest" we can put spare ores in if needed.
(you also can't see it, but we've spread out the output boxes so each space always holds at least one bar. This means if any ore does end up getting there it just floats about rather than getting 'hidden away' in a chest. We can then easily grab and re-feed or overflow chest it. 👍 )
saw a few examples of smelter/sorters .. thought I'd redesign my little area to incorporate this.. quite happy with the results.
the the two sides can be turned on/off independently if needed and have 'operation lights'.. the right side is on a 1sec delay on the drills to not destroy the chests
the sorter chests need at least 1 of their bar type in every space in them
input any ores/bars into the bottom left chest, and any overflow or non sorted items get sent around again
went through another redesign of this little area .. put a 'better' clock logic into the sorter drills, single chest on the left for inputs, added an extra two fury forges
wow all of these look super nice! i have been wanting to try automation but since this laptop im on aint to good aka the game is VERY slow and laggy i would not want any off screen stuff makeing it even worse lol
this is the one i think looks the best its hard to get something that looks good and does a good job lol
(sorry if i forgot to turn off ping reply)
the 'improved' original design, simple, modular and it was very effective for a long time as our main ore/bar area 🙂
the later designs are 100% more complex with the auto-sorting/drills and singular input options, but I feel still look nice
the entire area isn't needed so much any more as we've started to "smelt on site" and have a good stock of materials to have a portal for each drill/boulder site. When a boulder is done the whole setup then moves to the next site
