Hi all! I usually lurk, but I saw a post about bats and comments on caveling bats so I was inspired to try making one.
My pixel art skills are very VERY rusty, but I've been really inspired by Core Keeper so I want to try animating this little guy!
(so I'm posting this first draft for accountability lol)

I was thinking about that too. I thought of the possibility of it being a pet that gives Life Steal, but then finding it in Forgotten Ruins would be too early? (I think a Life On Melee build is more endgame because of Solarite Armor)
Then I also had the idea of making the pet egg a rare drop from Malugaz instead of randomly finding it in the biome.

And a life steal pet would be a nice addition to life steal builds
So many routes they could take with this idea (and tbh i think just like the owl it should be a pet you can still use when in a boat since they can fly)

The owl is as big as your char
So i could work in my opinion
Would make a lot of sense
And tbh. The life steal would look kinda weird for this pet. I would more likely go for a bleed effect (damage over time)
Or just straight up blund damage or a combination of ranged and closed attacks like mazugal also has

haha I love how cute it looks, and yeah you're right about the bleed effect, it'd be interesting to have a DoT mechanic in Core Keeper for sure
also would be nice to have a flying pet that attacks, I'll see if I can attempt an attack animation but I'm not confident hahaha
