Reason: The symbolism determined by the number of stars determines the rarity, but not for items in general.

Why: It is now very surprising how the rarity level of items is being thrown around senselessly.
A 5-star item drops more often than a 1-star item.

Additional reasons:
Today, 4-5 star items drop in large numbers and 1-star items are rarer. It should actually be the other way around. Therefore, abolish the rarity for items and/or introduce a new system. (Rarity for weapons still works correctly).
An explanation for this would be desirable.

The rarity system is fine, but they could add in sub rarities

Mainly just so I’m only seeing the rare drop icon if say Cres drops

you call it fine when 5star items drops more often then a 1star? 3 out of 4 items drop save (featured items) and the 3 are rarity 5 and the the one without save drop is rarity 1. sounds like a correct working rarity system. The main reason for Leciel is basedia and it is rarity 1. Rarity 1 should drop like candy like the useless notes and LC items. In a total new content i would say yeah ok its fine but forn outdated system with minimal new additions is that a nope.

i don't think rarity means exactly that 'this item drops more often', for a very long time items and weapons having more stars usually meant that it was supposed to be more advanced (progre grinders compared to normal grinders) or an upgrade to the previous version of a similar item (gran gigas having more stars than gigas maste which in turn has more stars than gigas 4 or gigas 3, etc.) which is sort of true even for weapons, klirodim is much much more common than any 'rare drop' series in the past regardless of the star rarity (relik, rokz, rugged, twalv), basedia has no use besides being a material item so i don't think it makes sense to have a higher star rarity regardless of how frequently it drops (also it would be really annoying to have material items like basedia or scepters show up instead of gran and lux and high domina when sorting by rarity for augments)

It wouldn't be a PSO game without the star system. Even back in the original PSO though, it didn't dictate that well how rare something was and not always how good it was either.

rarity is more of a tiering system than actual drop rarity

#

for weapons, you will find greaga, a 5star, far rarer than juvolg, 13star

#

it's just that as we level, lower tier items we've no use for stop dropping

#

with that said, it would be nice to stop treating 4-6* as rare drops fpr notifications...
