Reflection on January & Goals for February
Achievements in January:
Final Exams:
I completed all my finals and achieved good grades. Alhamdulillah, I am truly grateful for this accomplishment.
Learning Journey (Computer Science & Programming):
Although I faced many obstacles and couldn't fully complete my goal of reviewing the basics of computer science (including Python basics, intermediate Python and problem-solving, data structures, and algorithms), I am determined to work on these topics next month.
Final Project Outline:
I explored hardware through minimal Arduino projects and learned some basics about OpenCV and computer vision. This experience was very rewarding.I aimed to dedicate 6 hours per week to my project. While I worked on it, I struggled with managing my time, feeling like I was the only one carrying the load. I managed to push through during the second and last weeks after exams.
Sleep Routine:
I committed to waking up at 4:30 AM and sleeping by 10:00 PM. Although it was challenging to maintain this schedule consistently this month, I am committed to improving it as the new semester begins.
Quran Memorization:
I started memorizing, specifically aiming for Hizb 1, though I haven't completed this goal yet. I plan to continue and build on this in February.
Reading:
Instead of reading my friendās book, I started a novel and managed to complete 200 out of 500 pages. I will aim to finish the book next month.
Journaling:
I intended to journal daily and reflect weekly, but I didnāt manage to establish this habit. I will prioritize it in February.
Internship & Portfolio:
I began exploring internship opportunities, updated my LinkedIn, and started building my portfolio on GitHub with advice from a senior.
Web Development:
I worked on HTML, but didnāt reach my goal of 5 hours per week. I plan to continue focusing on this over the summer to master web development.
Prayer Routine:
I managed to pray all my obligatory prayers on time, though I only performed Tahajjud once or twice. This is an area I want to improve.
Fun & Quality Time:
I watched part of the āMy Demonā series for fun and enjoyed exploring the city with friends. I also took a memorable train trip with my family.
Daily Quran Reading:
I aimed to read the Quran for at least 15 minutes daily. I wasnāt as consistent as Iād like, and this is another area for improvement.
Overall Reflection:
January was a month filled with achievements and valuable lessons. While Iām proud of my progress, there are clear areas where I can improve, and I have set my goals to address these in February.

Sunday, 02 February ā Reflection
- How do I feel about my semester break coming to an end?
Iām excited for the new semester and the knowledge Iāll gain, but I also feel stressed about the final project since there hasnāt been much progress with my team. InshaāAllah, everything will work out. I also feel a bit drained because of a family issue that affected my mood, but I will focus on meditation and shifting my energy to start the new week with a positive mindset. - What are the biggest accomplishments from my break?
I didnāt accomplish as much as I had planned, but I did learn new things, like making prototypes with Arduino, which helped me step beyond just software. I also enjoyed valuable time with my family, though I didnāt get enough alone time to recharge. That left me feeling a bit drained, but I still appreciate the moments I shared with my loved ones. - Are there any unfinished goals or tasks I wish I had completed? How will I manage them moving forward?
Yes, I didnāt complete the Git/GitHub course or share a new podcast episode. I will finish the Git/GitHub course over the weekend when I have more free time. As for the podcast episode, I will make editing and publishing it a priority this week. - What were the key lessons I learned during this break?
Protect my energy Sometimes, trying to help others only drains me more. I need to set boundaries.
Enjoy life while staying focused ā Thereās still time to achieve my goals, but I need to start now rather than waiting for the āperfectā moment. - How did I take care of myself (physically, mentally, spiritually) during the break?
Physically: I tried to eat well, though I didnāt walk as much as I should have. Iāll fix that starting tomorrow.
Mentally: I made time for fun and relaxation while still managing a few productive sessions.
Spiritually: I stayed close to Allah through duaas, even though I know I can do better.
- What am I most excited about as the new semester begins?
I missed my friends and my online study buddies. Iām looking forward to studying without distractions, gaining new knowledge, and making progress in my career over the next four months. - What challenges do I anticipate in the coming semester, and how can I prepare for them?
Building a consistent study routine (at least 6 hours per day)
Scoring high marks on exams
Completing the final project despite team challenges
Working on personal projects while still making time for fun
Improving my public speaking skills by at least 25% compared to last semester
To tackle these challenges, Iāll create a structured study plan, track my progress weekly, and push myself to speak up more in discussions and presentations. - What habits from the break do I want to carry into the semester?
Honestly, my break was chaotic with an inconsistent sleep and study schedule. The only habit worth keeping is eating well. Everything else needs improvement. - What is one thing I want to let go of before starting this new chapter?
The negative energy Iāve been carrying since Friday due to hormones and a family issue. I refuse to let it affect my mindset for the new semester. - What is my intention or word for this new semester?
Excel in my exams and achieve great results, inshaāAllah.
Learn and grow in both my studies and career.
Step out of my comfort zone and take more action toward my goals.
Monday, 03 February
- What are my top 3 priorities for tomorrow?
Computer Vision: Research articles and take a short course to deepen my understanding.
Python Practice: Review variables, data types, and input/output concepts with hands-on practice.
Class Preparation & Review: Introduce the subject of Cloud computing and Virtualization before class, then review notes and start the first lecture once I return home. - What mindset do I want to have on my first day of the semester?
I will step into the new semester with confidence and excitement. Everything will be easy and understandable for me. I radiate good vibes, positivity, and self-loveāI am strong, intelligent, and beautiful! - How will I make my morning productive and smooth?
I will wake up early, inshaāAllah, and start my day with a structured routine:
Revise basic Python concepts before heading to class.
Briefly edit the podcast episode to keep the momentum going.
Set intentions for the day with a calm and focused mindset. - What will success look like for tomorrow?
Making progress in both my studies and personal projects.
Staying focused and managing my energy well.
Having fun and taking care of myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. - What specific tasks do I need to complete for my studies, projects, or personal growth?
Studies & Projects: Complete my top 3 priorities (Computer Vision, Python, and class preparation).
Personal Growth:
Journaling at the end of the day.
Reading at least a few pages of a book.
Waking up early to build a consistent routine.
- How will I manage my energy throughout the day?
Morning: 3 hours of study with planned breaks.
Evening: 4+ hours of focused study when I concentrate best.
Meals: Prioritize healthy meals, especially breakfast to start strong.
Self-care: Take short walks, stay hydrated, and pray on time for balance. - What challenges might come up, and how will I handle them?
Hitting snooze & oversleeping ā Iāll place my phone far from my bed so I have to get up.
Distractions from my phone ā Keep it away while studying and use a focus timer to stay productive. - How will I stay organized and on top of my coursework from the first day?
Review my notes every evening to reinforce what I learned.
This week, study one subject per day to ease into the semester, then increase to two subjects per morning starting next week.
Start working on project tasks early while things are still manageable. - How can I make time for reflection and journaling at the end of the day?
I will set aside at least 20 minutes before bed to reflect, write in my journal, and plan for the next day. - What small action can I take tomorrow to build momentum for a productive semester?
Review my notes and work on my project from Day 1.
Show up with discipline, focus, and a positive attitude.
