'Kay so... I like cooking and even more making new culinary discoveries (at my little scale of a Computer Science student)... So do you guys have a particular recipe of a dish from your country (or not, that's more or less to broaden my horizons) that you could share ?

Don't necessarily share a link to a given recipe or the whole recipe, just the name is enough !
For the other foodies out here that are looking for ideas, lately I've learnt how to do some of the following dishes :

  • Palak Paneer (India) [most recipes are vegetarian but not vegan] <- Spinach curry
  • Bibimbap (Korea) <- Korean "I need to eat and empty the fridge" dish
  • Pizza (Italy but... You know x)) <- Do I really need to tell you what a pizza is ?
  • Ramen broth (Japan) <- Broth for noodles, actually pretty easy (but time consuming)
  • Donburi (Japan) <- A whole meal, really similar to the Bibimbap
  • Okonomiyaki (Japan) <- "empty your fridge with some cabbage omelette" dish (actually, every time I did this, people were astonished)
  • Boeuf Bourguignon (France) <- a French classic if you've got a bottle of red-wine
  • Sausage Rougail (France) <- actually comes from the Reunion, this dish got its name from the "rougail" sauce

@Mods if there's anything to add / remove, don't hesitate to ping / dm me !

There's this dish called modak prepared in India during some festivities and it kinda resembles momos but it's totally different and has a sweet stuffing inside

There's Ptittim(like a small pasta), Shakshuka(like eggs cooked with garlic and tomato sauce), Tabbouleh (like a salad)

Ackee & Saltfish. It is a homey, lovely Jamaican dish. 🤌 If you don't have ackee readily available, there is also the canned version. Usually served with fried dumplings in my circles.

So I checked all of these and :

  • Modak: I'll try it when I see my nephews, it seems too sugary to be eaten alone
  • Ptittim: I'd need to look for it, I've never seen this kind of pasta
  • Shakshuka: I'll invite some friends and make one, I already love the fact that the eggs are poached
  • Tabbouleh: already made a few! :D
  • Ackee & Saltfish: I just need to find ackee but I'm already in love with this dish... drool_heart_eyes

sooji idli [as traditional one might a bit time consuming when prepared from Scratch or maybe you could buy a readymade mix too] It's like savory rice cake, you could have it with some chutney / gunpower aka idli podi and dosa [with the same batter] It's like a thin crepe

not a country's dish, but try a peanut butter jelly cheese sandwich. It's really good
