Would like to start a fitness forum where we can all help give each other advice to get in shape. I’ve been wanting to get much more in shape all my life but have constantly kept failing at sticking with the routines and going out my comfort zone. Im sure many of you all have felt the same way. I feel like having a fitness forum can definitely help us stay accountable and by supporting each other, itwill allow each of us to grow both physically and mentally. Let’s take on the challenge together

Amazing !
When do we start ?
im in
Anytime you want. I'm not trying to do like a group exercise class where everyone follows the same workout routine but rather people have their own unique routine and we just keep each other accountable. We can give each other ideas here from things we learn online or from others. Hoping we can get people who are experienced with exercise in here to help guide us as well.
oi
I'll join in! I've been meaning to develop my muscles, fight on everyone!
im in too
takakaya
ok , let me ask it differently
I meant when do we start and how do we start the accountability here ?(that's what i meant ... sorry for not clarifying earlier ....)
we could just post pictures/videos/workouts this way we motivate eachother and inspire others
I'm thinking today to do a full body workout, I haven't done any for the last 2 months 😪
I will post what I'll do
That's good thought I am insecure about my body
ended up not working out because I didnt plan my evening...
Wait that happened to me too oh my gosh 😭
It’s ok @drifting heart @little briar . I didn’t either but I would say to schedule into your day like at a certain time every week like you do studying for certain classes to make it easier to get started and hold you accountable.
I couldn't too
i'm super underweight, any tips on weight gain? doctor says i'm supposed to weigh 56, and i weigh 43. i'm not malnourished, i eat well, i just don't seem to gain any weight :|
i m overweight and want to lose weight so
Bro do not eat ice cream or sweets to gain but rather healthy stuff
I would say eat a lot of protein especially chicken and Lamb.
Peanut butter a og for strength. If you do exercise then eat more to keep balance. Another good tip is eat snacks. In middle of meals eat some bites. Chocolate is so good.
Any particular number you want to get down to or reduce?
Thanks! Will try this out for a few weeks
At least 10kg
Possible in 6 months
Whatever you eat for meals just ask your mom or if you cook for yourself just add abit more to every meal and eat it all
Skip dinner or minimize it on weekdays. It helps to incentivise you to sleep earlier, too.
Oh good advice
How do I resist to eat food I mean like after eating a heavy lunch, you decide at night you are going to eat plain or low calorie dinner then when time Hits your cravings win and I am eating ramen right now laughing of my guilt by adding on piece of tomato to it. @slender sail
So how to resist eating anything at all for dinner? Keep yourself busy. Could be with study, hobbies or whatever, then by bed time you're tired enough to sleep early and not get hungry
Ok so the way I’d say the way this would work it would be like the Aspiring morning people chat where we post what we do each day and if we have any struggles, etc.
For everyone trying to lose or gain weight I'd recommend tracking your caloric intake each day, sounds like a lot of work but it helped me gain my first few kilos when i started bulking. Now i am up 20 kilos in 1.5 years which mostly consists of gained muscle mass
hey @fiery horizon could u suggest some exercises which will help me lose weight without putting too much strain on my body
More like how to resist eatting the craving of tasty food again more like, Like if you eat something sweet you want more and more of it.
Ah, I don't really know how other people do that. I just listen to God who tells me through my body. If I had a lot of sugar the past few days, I just don't get as interested in sugar the rest of the week
thank u
To lose weight you don't really have to do exercises, doing a bit of cardio and being in a "carloric defecit" (just eating less compared to what you would normally be eating on a day) should already help losing some weight. Doing High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) could help with losing weight but it is really difficult if you run out of stamina fast
Oh thank u very much @atomic crown i will definetley try eating less and hiit will be difficult as stamina for me just doesn't exist
You're welcome 🙂 Do note that by eating less I don't mean skipping a meal completely, just eating 300 calories less every day is enough to lose some weight but it will always take a while to see results
also you can try to add weight training to slowly increase stamina if you’re new to working out if possible so you don’t overwork your body or joints too fast (happened to my mom when she started out with cardio)
Very similar to the 2 min rule I tried something similar for exercise where I did the bare minimum when I was feeling very lazy this morning. I did:
10 push ups
10 sit ups
10 squats
30 sec plank
If you guys are having trouble getting started try this and it also would be a great warm up too.
Can I share the workout routine which I'm going to try ??
I'mma join you awesome people starting this coming monday. I want to build this up as a habit so when the semester starts I can keep it up 💪🏼
Wow that's cool ... it will be fun :))
Btw you got any tips for what kinda diet a teenager should have ?? And now to manage to workout when you study for many hours+ school?
Balanced. That should be your diet. I've done a couple of research papers about this - and the honest truth is there is no perfect definition (or even a proper definition) for a healthy diet. When it comes to a healthy diet what really matters is the whole picture—eating your veggies daily, avoiding overeating, often avoiding items that are too fatty, starchy, or sugary. If you can, avoid eating out, try make your own meals and experiment with different flavors and balances of meals. You can have treats, but they need to be every once in a while. Avoid energy drinks. Don't go on diets (they often will cause more harm to your body then good). You got this my friend 💪🏼 Working out when it comes to school is something that I struggle with, especially this semester. But last semester was one of my best. 1) always be on the move. I think it helps that you are in school rn because you have to walk between classes and take lunch breaks. But when you get home to study, if you do pomodoro, then with each break physically get out of your chair and walk around your space for a couple minutes. Don't sit through it. That is not good for your focus or your health. 2) be consistant. Consistency always matters over quantity. 20 minutes of a simple, small workout daily is so, so much better for you than an hour twice or three times a week. This will positively impact your focus, mental health, and physical health. Even on a tough day, don't let it go by without even a 5 minutes of consecutive movement (time set aside mindfully for focusing on exercising).
That's good welcome @low dagger hope u reach your fitness goals
finally! ending 2022 with a complete full body workout
(I mean only now will I workout)
There are no such excercises to reduce body fat in your body or in certain areas commonly coined as spot reducing, that is a myth being hyjacked by the people to sell you stuff you don’t need, you can lose weight by burning more calories then what you put into your body. Your body has a based maintenance level this depends on many factors such as your height weight and biological sex and body composition. You can find out your base on tdee calculator online, however there are excercises online that may help you burn calories to enter the calorie deficit to burn fat such as HIT cardio which is a good calorie burner general cardio or just weightlifting but note it’s harder to progress on weightlifting when in a calorie deficit
Wow got lots of people here. Let's work on getting in shape together for the new year! 💪
Thank u @waxen bane
i would say
wake up early if possible meditate and then work out for 30 mins at max
you can start with 10-15 mins
do 3 sets of 8 push ups
15 squats
3 set of 8 pull ups
and go on a jog on sundays
As for diet just avoid the junk and if u wanna gain just add abit to more to what u eat for meals and slowly build upon it as u progress.
if u wanna cut then cut upon ur regular food bit by bit for example if u have 3 bread loaves for breakfast then make it 2 and build upon it remember to strike the balance.
dont end up over eating or under eating
Thank you for your advice 😃 yes i will try to keep balance
Thank you 😃 I'll update about my diet and stuff here 🙂
Do you have access to the gym
Yes
Home or a commercial gym
It's like a common gym for everyone ( only for residents)
Try some cardio and try eating healthier
Any tips for a newbie in the gym?
No one judges you, just make sure you put your weight back after use. Don’t follow wierd tik tok excercises
So good to here. I got overwhelmed with the lingo from tiktok, like splitting sets & etc. cause i know nothing at all. Just went in & used what I knew just the basic reps & sets. & worked on whatever I felt like.
@waxen bane what to do when you have no motivation to go walking
