It’s okay to make mistakes, yes of course. We’re all human, despite some of us wishing otherwise. What’s not okay is refusing to acknowledge or grow from your mistakes. That’s the only way we progress as a society. Yeah, maybe he didn’t know how much damage goes into training AI, especially generative AI models. When I started using AI for assistance with coding, and modding, I didn’t know how bad it was either. Then when I learned, I cut it out as much as I could. Certain things are easier and straight up just possible that weren’t before with AI. However, that does not mean I endorse it.

It makes constant mistakes and inaccuracies while also harvesting our planet for its resources. Remind you of anything? Think back to the first film. What was the message? Think past the surface level of the action and the romance and the drama. Who were the bad guys? The RDA, and what were they doing? Going to a place they weren’t native to and harvesting the natural resources. AI has ended human lives, destroyed human jobs, and is interrupting our youths ability to learn. To encourage or excuse the use of AI is to support AI. I’m not usually a “You’re either with us or against us” mentality person, but when it comes to the future and wellbeing of our society, there is no passivity.

Anyone that is for a better world and is against actively harming the world should be pro helping fix the world. I don’t think you’re a bad person or a member of the RDA, same with OP. But I do think you need to reflect on what you’re supporting when you say “Just let him have fun with AI” especially generative AI
