I have been trying a few things and it is NOT happy no matter what so far

My running theory is that the files aren't enjoying being swapped when the piece you're switching it too has more files than the swap one and ALSO gets very mad when it doesn't perfectly match with all the masks and other fancy files

I was doing a bit of reverse engineering with the avatar set mod you made since it was using the shirt textures, did a bit of digging and found the rest of the files for the shirt swap and tried removing all the same to make it match and it wasn't working, tried copying the blue m onto the masks, still didn't work. So I think if you do customise those it needs to match both the shape and the colours they use and I don't know how to make those

Also odds are the amount of files varies depending on the swap since the shirt just does not have a mask file that I could find

Might be easier to try and fake the layers by handpainting some depth onto the texture one you're working on, maybe add some little shadows and highlights straight onto it

guys help help help my ikran has one tailpiece visual stuck (it won’t unequip it) it lets me equip other visuals while this one still won’t unequip
so i have both at the same time
because one doesn’t unequip
it doesn’t even show as selected but it has an unequip option that doesn’t work even when i spam my spacebar

and i sent this message here too just in case (i originally sent it in another thread)
also note that i do not have any mods so it is unrelated to adding a mod or something
though i know you guys are great at editing the game files and stuff so maybe you all have a fix

There is a lot of issues with the ikran's cosmetics at the moment
Try to select an other tailpiece (not talking about the cosmetics but the tailpiece itself), switch with another then switch it back to the one that was equiped before
Once you did that, you can go back in the cosmetics and select the visual you want ( I recommend selecting the visual you want directly, don't wander around selecting a bunch in a row cause you might have to redo the manip)

so i vaguely remember someone asking for tsu'tey's hair a while ago, but i dont remember who, but i did find this hair if anyone is interested. Its a little bit goofy in the sense that it doesnt have a kuru unless you're riding a mount, so i've combined it with the bald hair and accept the fact i have a double kuru on ikran. unsurprisingly it doesnt change colour, same with the npc hairs

For swapping you find the model you want in Hunter, export the .mgraphobject by the same name, rename it to the model you will replace, and put it (most likely) in blue\graph objects\gear

Have Hunter export images as DDS
Once you know the file name of what you want to recolor, search it up in Hunter and export the dds image ending in _d
Open the dds in paint.net, which has a recolor tool you can experiment with
Save the dds as BC2 (dxt3 linear) and with error diffusion dithering unchecked

I recommend using coolors and inputting all the unmodded colors and using a reference photo of the OG skin, that helps me when the patterns don’t match any guides

But seriously, you'll learn over time. I have a 10x4 grid on a drawing app that has the body and head colors of the original skin on one side and the colors I've put to the new skin on the other. That lets me make sure the colors don't clash with each other, and with a reference of the skin I can somewhat easily see where each color would go

Iirc the app also shows the hex code

And the reference I use is either a picture of the original skin or how the skin looks in-game at that moment
