The first is my newest video where I used a free ai voice provided by CapCut. The second is an older video where I recorded my own voice using my phone. Should I stick with this ai voice, subscribe to something like Elevenlabs for a better ai voice or voice cloning, or invest in a quality microphone to record my own voice?

If you feel confident using your own voice then definitely use your own voice. I recommend getting a proper mic tho just so it sounds even better

Repetition KILLS your retention - so from the start. Your 1st video says the idiom, then repeats it immediately.
The pace with the monotone AI voice feels really slow, even though it's not. It just feels really monotone. If you can't use your own voice or pay a voice actor - try elvenlabs.io - there is a bit more vocal variance in their outputs.

my personal take is that since this video already got a 3.8x outlier (which is really good), you may as well keep the video up
but moving forward yes if you can use your own voice that's always going to be better
i remember i used to feel so shy i hated using my voice
but you get used to it very quick
if you are concerned about audio quality
but don't have a mic
you can use your phone or laptop mic - which may sound bad
BUT then you can run it through adobe audio enhancer (Free) to make it sound just as good as a podcast
so your voice will always be 110% better than the best AI in terms of connection the viewer gets, in terms of mic that's less of a concern since there are many tools that can help you enhance audio
