A friend asked me if I could build him a board for his bass pedals (mostly Boss) cuz he saw my handmade boards. Since I work at a STEM center and “teach” the workshop classes, I have access to lots of random wood and some mid-quality woodworking tools. We also have a bank of 3D printers, which I’ve been using to make knobs and accessories lately.

There was some free stl’s posted on Reddit recently that we’re brackets for a pedalboard using “common” sizes of wood (at least for America). I decided to try the prints out and utilize some scrap wood from our workshop- combining both mediums/skills I’ve developed the past few years.

The prints worked out nicely on the first try and they fit the wood perfectly, so I measured out 21” pieces for this board. Sanded, stained, and drilled + used our laser cutter to make the acrylic shelf under the board (instead of wood) to make it a bit fancier! The laser cutter is super helpful for acrylic (as long as you get the screw holes properly measured/located).

Screwed on some rubber feet and printed some stand offs for certain corners to keep the board level.. idk if the wood is warped, cuz it’s cheap, or if it’s the brackets but I got it balanced. Slapped on some Velcro and it’s looking epic! Really nice black on wood look that my friend really digs, I’m very excited to hand it off to him!

I stood on it multiple times (I’m nearly 200lbs) and it was holding up well! It’s not gonna be used for gigging or aggressive jamming cuz my buddy just plays bass at home or with friends. He’s retired from the band life (although his former band was signed to Coheed and Cambrias record label and opened for them for a while)
