That's correct, and likely why I haven't been able to find anything about testing microdeposits for external accounts.

Gotcha, so just to be sure, a payout account does not need to go through verification ,correct?

As a User, think of it this way: Stripe is most concerned that Payments get processed. so it validates Payment Methods - but then the value of a payment can accumulate while a platform/connected account gets its external account in order - nothing is lost, really.
