Hello, not a dumb question at all but this would actually be a better question to ask Shopify's support. Shopify uses Stripe but we didn't develop their code so we can't really look in to configuration errors with them.
ok, appreciate the answer, but do you not have any idea where the problem might be? I realize it's not your code, but people must ask you this pretty often so maybe you have some clue?
Unfortunately not, if it is API key related then my guess would be the key was only partially copied over. But you said there is a decline so that might mean the API calls are working but something else in their system declined it
