#meowpony - wisepad 3 assign location

Thank you so much!
I am attempting to link the device to the Collect from Stripe App that is requiring a location before I can proceed to any type of payment.
It looks like this isn't possible for bluetooth readers like the Wisepad 3, they are only assigned locations when connecting through your app https://stripe.com/docs/terminal/fleet/locations#register-bluetooth-readers
I am unfamiliar with this flow, can you tell me more about that Stripe App and where the location is required?
Sure thing! This application allows you to make simple transactions with Stripe with terminal devices (such as the Wisepad3).
It allows you to create an inventory of items or create individual transactions with a short description. It links directly with your Stripe account.
When configuring the devices, it is able to find the Wisepad 3 by Bluetooth. However, to finish the configuration of the device, it requests that I select a registered location.
The application suggests the following tip: "Stripe requires all readers be registered to a location, which you can create in your Stripe Dashboard."
It does not seem to be the case for this device though, even though it is compatible with the application in question.
Is there an alternative way to assign a location to the device? I have 5 devices to assign to a single location.
Thank you for the clarification. Are you developing this as a Stripe app yourself?
Not at all. I am simply attempting to use tools that are already offered. However, if no other options are available I might need to.
To be clear, is this an app that someone else developed and you are trying to get set up for it? Or is all the code that is working with the locations here either yours or Stripe's?
I am using a Stripe Verified Partner app linked to my Stripe account.
The location management is directly with Stripe, not with the third-party app.
Which app is this specifically?
Collect for Stripe
Thank you. I now see how you said that multiple times and I overlooked it
Not a worry
It would actually be best to reach out to their support if you haven't already, they will know how that kind of reader works with their app. Stripe doesn't develop that app so unfortunately I don't have much insight in to how it works
Thanks for your time! I did start a ticket for their support, however their documentation seem to lean towards "not our problem check with Stripe".
I think I will lean towards an alternative solution, such as an app that allows you to input the location, rather than having to input it in the Stripe Dashboard.
Yeah unfortunately it can be tricky to find who to go to with this. I don't want to ping pong you around but in this case, it is mostly a question of whether they do actually require this registration upfront or whether they have some alternative for devices that can't do that.
