#edb-duplicate-customers

Hello 👋
Not sure I fully grasp the question, specifically split into different customers piece. Can you give me an example? thanks
Hi. Yes, here is the full use case:
On our platform we have students and their parents. Initially parents are the ones who add their card details to pay. Now we have a requirement whereby we need each student to have their own customer ID so that we know which student account was paid. That said, the card details should remain the same (the card details of their parents).
I see. I don't think we currently have any APIs that can support this use-case. As creating the customer objects would work but I don't think you can copy and attach existing payment methods to a different customer object.
You'd likely need to collect the payment method again
Is there no way around this? We have thousands of customers that we’d need to do this with 😰
We just signed a 24-month contract with Stripe, not sure if it’s something I could review with an engineer over a call?
As far as i know, I don't think so 🤔 You can re-attach an already attached payment method unfortunately.
You could talk to our support team if there are any alternatives here but as far as I know the API currently doesn't support it
