Is there a way to retrieve a historial instance of an upcoming invoice?
Unfortunately there isn't a way to do this unless you locate the underlying request to get the upcoming invoice via the logs in your dashboard.
Did you your integration make a retrieve request to get the upcoming invoice?

it did not, the only associated request would be the one that sent the usage record

I'm guessing it doesn't send back a full invoice in the response body?
