Sure!
So our business will be maintaining a list of customers and a list of service providers (these are separate small businesses that provide services to the customers). We will be invoicing customers on behalf of the service provider. Our plan is to make a custom connected account for each of our service providers, then maintain the customer's list at the main company level (platform account) so that multiple service providers can have invoices sent to a particular customer
does that make sense? We essentially handle the billing for multiple smaller companies
So in the long run, the invoice is sent from Custom Account -> Customer.... Customer pays and the money goes from Customer -> Custom Account, then the fee goes from Custom Account -> Platform Account
I see! Direct charge is discouraged for custom account. You can consider using Destination charge or separate charge and transfer which the customer will be on platform account instead of connected account
Our business model really requires us to have the money flow from the customer -> connected account -> platform account, which to my knowledge can only be accomplished via Direct charge
I see! Direct charges is not possible to use customer directly created on the platform unless you clone customer and its payment method to the connected account
In addition, you might face limitations later on such as radar rule can't be applied, platform has to cover for negative balances of custom accounts, dispute management is difficult
Hmm. Would it be easier to handle this with Express accounts and Direct charge?
Both Custom and Express accounts using direct charge have the same limitations
