So you want to be able to manually capture the PI after the order is submitted (you don't want the act of submitting the order to trigger payment)?

I set the order to manual but as you can see from the last req ID the payment intent is set to automatic for some reason

Looking in to this as well. It looks like the payment intent had the proper capture method of manual all the way up until it was confirmed. Still trying to understand why that changed
I think only the order had the correct capture method (manual) all the way through (and still does). The payment intent it creates has a capture method of automatic from inception

Interesting. In our backend logs all of them have the payment intent's capture method as manual up until confirmation but I do see that in the events we sent you it is always automatic
Looking further in to this. I feel that we will likely need you to write in to support so they can put you in contact with the team that is developing the Orders API

Actually; now that im looking at it. It may not have been a support ticket but rather just a follow up on how the beta is going. The first email was from that stripe email address to orders-beta at stripe.com in which i was bcc'd. I responded to that with the issue and had bit back and forth but they didnt seem to get it
Okay I think I found your ticket for this. I can add this info to it and escalate to my team to look further in to this
