That sounds like it should create a subscription backdated to that date, that will bill on the next invoice date, with an already paid invoice. Are you already making this call and it is working or are you running in to some issues in testing?

I am doing it in testing and everything looks good; just wanted to confirm I am not doing anything crazy 🙂

Gotcha. Yep, that sounds about right to me. Also make sure to test with test clocks if you have not already, you can use them to see what will happen in a year without having to wait a year https://stripe.com/docs/billing/testing/test-clocks
