My customer has his address in India and is not able to pay a USD invoice because of country regulations.
What do I suggest that i do?

The document suggests to change my offering as an export. But the service here is not technically an export. My business is based in India and so is my customer. The invoice generated for the customer is in USD. I would prefer to change it to INR.
How do you generate the invoice?
The invoice was auto-generated with the subscription
The subscription has two prices attached to it. Both in USD at the moment

But how do I change the current invoice to INR and shift the payment method to the new currency
I want to retain the subscription information for the customer
You can't change the finalized invoice, but you can update the subscription and replace its price with a INR price so that future invoices will be settled in INR.
I tried this. It did not work
it says that a price with currency INR was tried to be updated when it expected USD.

The price specified supports currencies of inr which doesn't include the expected currency of usd.
Hm if that's the case, I'd suggest you to cancel the existing subscription and ask your customer to subscribe again with a INR price.
Do I also need to delete the customer?
It's not necessary to delete, but I'd recommend you to create a new customer
If I do that, I will lose the address information, payment methods and past invoices
If you delete the customer then yes these information will be removed.
is there a way to retain the customer information and only attach a new subscription to the existing customer with INR prices
I'm afraid not, because this customer's currency is set to USD now, you cannot create a subscription, invoice, invoice item, balance adjustment, or coupon in another currency (e.g., INR) for that customer.
If possible, please do take this up this as a feature request for future stripe releases.
