Hey, not sure I understand the Q?

Assume that few months ago, I used a valid card to pay an invoice and it successes. And now the card was expire, and I want to refund, does it can refund successfully?

#

As I know, the refund api just need the charge_id parameter

#

if the card become invalid, what will happen?

It depends it the bank really. If the card was just updated (i.e. expired and replaced) then it'll likely succeed

#

However if canceled (i.e. lost/stolen) my guess is the refund would fail too

More context here:

A refund can fail if the customer’s bank or card issuer has been unable to process it correctly (for example, a closed bank account or a problem with the card). The bank returns the refunded amount to us and we add it back to your Stripe account balance. This process can take up to 30 days from the post date.
