There is a timeout of 20 seconds for webhook events.

Is there any way to extend that? We're having database issues and it's kicking my ass until I can find out why saving has slowed down.

I don't think so, sorry! However one option is to return a 200 as soon as you receive the webhook event, and then you are free to process the event for as long as needed.
