they subscribed successfully but they also have open invoices/incomplete subscriptions

Should I leave them as is, or should I close/void previous open invoices before creating new ones?
This is completely up to you., but note that from Stripe's end there is no downside of keeping the incomplete subscriptions and open invoices.
