Hey there
Yes the Standard Account can disconnect
But then they couldn't use the platform to process so they would need their own integration
And they could use their own integration (without platform fees) while connected to the platform as well.
Thanks for clarifying.
Sure thing
Example: A buyer makes a purchase from a store that is built on Shopify’s platform.
Shopify uses it? I think I got closed there once for listing a restricted item.
Sorry, can you clarify your question?
---Irrelevant.
As for Connect Express, I get platforms are liable for disputes and fraud. There can also be failed debit charges. If these incur, can fees be recouped from the user, like Stripe draws banks for negative balances?
Yes for certain countries we can debit the Connected Account: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/account-balances#accounting-for-negative-balances
A connected Standard account is always ultimately responsible to cover negative balances. For Express and Custom accounts, the platform is ultimately responsible to cover negative balances.
If a connected account balance is negative, Stripe debits their external account on file. This doesn't apply to Express and Custom users?
We can only debit Express/Custom in certain countries.
The above statement does apply to Express/Custom for those countries mentioned in the doc
This functionality works only for banks located in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the U.S. (Connect only supports auto debits for Standard and Express accounts in New Zealand.)
Makes sense -- thanks.
