hi there! that may have been quite a long while back. As of September 8 2020, we now support up to 500 subscriptions active per customer on an account.

I've implemented payment only 2 weeks ago and I was getting that error.

#

I would just like to prevent it from happening. Does it depend on some other factors maybe?

do you have the request id where you saw that error?

Nope. It was happening when I tried to create subscription via API. I'm trying to reproduce the error now.

#

But ye, it was validation error so no request ID was generated I suppose

maybe let us know if you manage to reproduce it. I'm not aware of a 3 subscription / customer limitation.

So weird. I will do that, thanks.

Well I've figured out the issue. It is limited to 3 only when testing inside test clock simulation... Which I've always used. I oversaw that little part of the docs here: https://stripe.com/docs/billing/testing/test-clocks

Great to see there is no limit. Thanks for the help Alex!

aaah, good to know!

I suggest to note that explicitly in that part of the docs and in the error codes docs. Some copy like "NOTE: When using test clocks, you can create up to 3 subscriptions. Otherwise the limit is 500 subscriptions."

Even bold it I would say. We've lost hours discussing the adjustment of our business logic because we thought the limit is 3. ๐Ÿ˜…
