there isn't really a way to "change the start date" after a subscription is created. The customer already paid for the full period, changing the start date kind of changes their overall payment plan

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to do. Can you give me a concrete example of who pays when for what?

Sure, we sell an internet service. Usually with a modem and a sim card. We take money upfront and ship these items to them, however we have to start paying the moment we activate the sim, so we do this after they receive equipment and get setup. We don't want them to pay for sub or activate while its "in the mail" as they can't use it....hope this makes sense....may have to allow them to come to another checkout where they pay and activate possibly?

but what do they pay upfront? Just the hardware?

They pay for the hardware and for the sub, we just don't want to start the sub until they get shipment

okay so it looks like you shouldn't be creating a Subscription upfront since you don't yet have a start date

#

I'm sorry this isn't really a business model we support today unfortunately where you basically "pre-pay" for the first month but don't start the month yet

#

and I can't think of a good way to model this in our API that isn't a "hack" that will bite you later

Thanks....I think I can sell equipment and when they receive they can come back to an activation portal that allows payment for sub and start.....I gotta meet the wife...thanks for your input
