Hello! Just starting a thread for you -- I'll review and respond as soon as I can ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, this is somewhat tricky, switching metered plans

#

Usually our recommended approach is to resolve this in one somewhat messy invoice where you add the new price as an additional subscription item, then "close off" usage on the previous pricing (subscription item) and starting to track usage on the new item. Depending on your pricing structure you might need to manage some pricing adjustments. Otherwise, switching at the billing cycle is much simpler, since you can avoid this crossover scenario.

Sorry to disappear for a bit. I think that makes sense!

I wonder if switching but not invoicing immediately is the same idea? (perhaps not, I can test that fairly easily tho).

#

I suppose we could put all users on all metered plans and then track usage on the correct one based on which subscription they're on ๐Ÿค” (in other words, our code decides which price to add usage to)

All viable options I think, the difference would mostly be what the user themselves see on the Invoice.

yeah, gotcha. that makes sense. ideally they didnt see unexpected metered plans on there.

#

We have 6 metered plans total. The basic idea is "metered usage but it's discounted on higher price subscriptions"

#

I wonder if there's an alternative way to model that.

I am admittedly a bit rusty on metered subscription behavior but am trying to think of the best way to do this here.

I think you have it right if each of those tiers is a different metered rate. It is just that switching between them mid-month can be tricky.
