Never been on here before. Alex, you with stripe or just a friendly developer? I ask because I'm messaging with Stripe Support (who is very helpful). Just wondering if other developers have had this issue

We're setting up exempt customers. Need a metadata field called Exemption_Code. This will get pushed to AvaTax to indicate whether customer is exempt or taxable.

I manually added the space to a customer and it worked.

As Stripe told me it would.

My developer is saying you can't add a blank or null value in the field via Stripe API

Just trying to figure out what that means and if that's a true statement. I feel that a blank or null value is totally different than a space.

i'm an engineer with Stripe. It depends on the exact field, we may do different validations for different fields.

okay I don't want to duplicate work on your end. I'm talking with Stripe Support now who is looking into this for me.
