I was worried about getting labeled as a risky account from Stripe perspective in case the ML models would see that we have some connected accounts that have a negative balance, so I understand from you that this is a totally normal behavior that is not discouraged by Stripe

And one last follow up: I am using Destination charges, so those would be the ones I would like to refund. Is there a way to refund the application_fee but have the connected account pay the Stripe fee?
For example, if there was a payment of 10$, the connected account got $8, we got $1.5 and Stripe got $0.5, I would like the connected account to pay for $8.5 (their payout + stripe fee), and we would pay for $1.5 (our application fee)

no that's not possible, you pay the Stripe fee in that case
