Hi there! Stepping in for @naive spindle here as they need to step away. It looks like you are trying to create that cardholder on your Express Connected Account. However, Issuing with Connect is only supported for Custom accounts.

rustic star
#

ok, and is it possible to switch an account from an Express account to a custom one?

plush hedge
#

No, you would need to re-onboard the user in that case as a Custom Account.

rustic star
#

also, if I use custom accounts, I don't get to use the built in dashboard and onboarding process that I have with express account right?

plush hedge
#

That's correct.

rustic star
#

is there any other way to get the drivers a card issued and still use express accounts? it would be a pretty heavy lift to build out the whole account onboarding process now

plush hedge
#

Not really, no. We hope to provide support for Issuing and Express in the future but I don't have a timeline I can provide for that.

rustic star
#

is this Issuing process the right thing for what I am trying to do? Why would I need their SSN, company info, etc when I they are pulling the funds from my account? Wouldn't stripe need my company address and what not (which they already have)

Yes Issuing is the correct Product if you want to provide a card to your Connected Accounts that they can use to spend from their Issuing balance.

#

Ah maybe that is the confusion.

#

Are you anticipating that the Connected Account users are adding funds for themselves to use?

rustic star
#

would it be one source (i.e. my account) that has 100,000 in it, and then I can activate $50 on a drivers card to pay for a specific order?

plush hedge
#

Or are you going to be adding funds to your Platform that you expect your cardholders to use?

#

That is up to you and how you want to set it up.

#

If you want it to be one source, then you don't need to use Connect Funding nor create the Cardholders on the Connected Accounts

#

You just create the Cardholders on your platform

rustic star
#

basically the process would be, we want someone to sign up to be a driver (like postmates), and then we issue them a card that gets funds from our account. As orders come in, we activate a certain amount on the card for them to pay for the order, then charge the customer (which results in money going back into our account)

plush hedge
#

And you top up your own platform issuing balance

#

Yep so you don't need Connect here for that

#

So you would create the Cardholders on your platform account

#

And then receive payments on your platform

#

And then transfer a portion of funds out to the Connected Accounts as well to pay your drivers.

#

But the Issuing part would just live on your platform

rustic star
#

but how do I get the drivers a virtual card that I push money to?

#

so I would setup a Source for my company, then 1 card holder using my information for my company, then issue multiple cards to that card holder?

plush hedge
#

Yes that is one way to do it. Or you can create Cardholders for each individual driver. Depends no how you want to set it up and what your relationship with the drivers is.

rustic star
#

so they are just like postmates or doordash drivers. Its people that sign up to delivery orders on our platform

#

is there a limit to the number of cards that can be issued to a single card holder?

plush hedge
#

I don't believe so, but let me double check

#

Nope, no limit on amount of cards or Cardholders
