Good question. Not sure what may have changed, as far as I know that has been a requirement for a bit. When did you start seeing that error?
Also have you reached out to support to enable your account to request transfers without card_payments?
Hi Pompey, I will ask the user as they just sent this over today. will report back with a response asap!
Sounds good. Looking in to why this might have happened. I think I should be able to find something otherwise but that info should help
Is there a way in the dashboard to check whether it's been enabled or disabled recently? @hybrid bridge
they received the 1st errors of this type on April 5th
Good question. I am still looking in to this. I found information on it but am not immediately sure how it applies to your account. Do you have the account ID for this account?
Interesting. So I am seeing calls live calls on this account that are succeeding in requesting the transfers capability without the card_payments capability https://dashboard.stripe.com/logs/req_3USqxXxOS2zzVN
Sign in to the Stripe Dashboard to manage business payments and operations in your account. Manage payments and refunds, respond to disputes and more.
Let me see if I can find the failures. Do you have the request ID (req_123) of the request that you sent me in the screenshot?
let me ask the user It's not provided in the original email
Gotcha. Still looking myself but that could help me look right at it
He doesn't have that specific one but here are 4 arbitrary requests with the same error from the past few weeks.
req_SNN8Dx2vmgZILN
req_k55JrM45ppTKtx
req_tDXwXfqqzivyX1
req_JdSZ0Rg6BshMG5
Also, here is the ID of the last request that successfully worked:
req_3kvcZTBvZwj3R6
Note that in all of the 5 requests above, the following part of the POST body is the same:
"capabilities": {
"transfers": {
"requested": "true"
}
}
does this help or do you need that specific one?
Thanks for the clarification. Checking in to those
๐ @drifting matrix stepping in for @hybrid bridge as they need to step away. Looks like you completed your platform profile in March in, is that correct?
When you did that, you answered in a way that indicated you were going to onboard merchants that would need card_payments.
Thus your platform capabilities internally were set to not allowing you to onboard transfers-only.
Looks like all your other accounts were created before you filled out the platform profile, at which point we let you create any type of account with any capabilities in test mode.
If you want to onboard transfers-only, then you can either create a new platform to test with, or you can reach out to our Support team (https://support.stripe.com/contact/login) and ask them to help update your platform to allow for transfers-only.
Find help and support for Stripe. Our support center provides answers on all types of situations, including account information, charges and refunds, and subscriptions information. Get your questions answered and find international support for Stripe.
I see thanks for this info, in doing so would this hinder this users ability to accept payments? or does what you suggested fix their issue and everything is peachy after?
This is just an unactivated test platform right?
So it isn't going to affect anything really
No they're live in prod, have processed over 600k last time i checked
Not the account for the above request ID you provided?
that should be the live ID, the AE gave that to me, let me double back real quick
Oh wait
Looks like the account ID you provided and the account of the request ID are different
Yes the account ID is live
Are you hitting that error on the live account as well?
Yeah they couldn't find the Req_id of that specific one in the screenshot
Nah they shouldn't be
yes the user is hitting that error on the live account
I just checked the platform capabilities and they are set up to handle transfers-only
Test vs. prod doesn't matter. It is the Account that matters.
Will be the same behavior in test and prod for each account here
So yeah, I recommend you double check with them which account they are using when they hit the error.
ok i will ask and let you know my findings!
Sounds good!
(Really they should be able to provide a request ID of the error they hit!)
That is a foolproof way to ensure they are on the right account without them just saying so ๐
The Stripe account ID associated with these errors is acct_1JwAieDs4c24O9wz
Yep that is the test account that I was talking about
So they aren't seeing it on the live account
i see, are transfers disabled?
so i'm guessing they'll need to contact stripe support?
Yeah but really they can just create a new account
That is the easiest way
Since it is just a test account
And you can have as many test accounts as you want
It would take 5 mins to spin up a new test account and be able to create transfers-only Connected accounts
Understood, If they give me a hard time can i suggest the Stripe Support alternative?
Yep for sure
Thank you for your assitance!
