I'm guessing this is because you use localhost for the image URL. Let me try to reproduce this on my end.

So I managed to reproduce: image hosted on localhost won't work with Checkout Session.

If you want to pass the url directly in the checkout session: yes.
Anther option is create a product in the stripe dashboard, upload the image there, and then pass the product ID to the Checkout Session
