Hey @opaque wasp. It's not really identical. IF you pass price_data and product_data it creates a one-off Price. It's fairly bad for tracking and reconciliation. So we strongly recommend creating a real Price/Product catalog first and referencing those instead.

Thanks @toxic schooner - in my case I am actually dealing mostly with one-off custom parts for customers so that is kinda what I was looking for. Is that supported with checkouts because there is no associated invoice just a payment receipt, unlike invoices where a more permanent record is kept?

Would like to avoid spamming new products every time, unless archiving is the recommended solution in that case

It's true that with Checkout no Invoice will be created, but not exactly the reason for less or more permanent.

When creating an Invoice Item you can specify amount instead
