Just what the error says. If you do not have Platform Controls you will need to log in to this test account and add the payment method there.

So I can't use the API to add it to our customers' Connect Standard accounts?

I'm using the same API key that I used to set up the test account.

The test accout will have it's own API key now. You'll need to log in to their dashboard to collect it.

Then use that API key in the call to add the payment method

Sure thing! BTW if you were using Custom accounts you could do this. Are there other reasons you went with Standard?

Yeah there were. It's been over a year now and I don't recall offhand why we used Standard.

Gotcha okay that makes sense. Basically in terms of Stripe accounts/permissions a Standard Account is a stand-alone Stripe account so we don't allow platforms to make too many direct modifications.

In many cases a Standard Account may link to a Platform to provide some service (like a customer funnel) but they wouldn't want the Platform to be able to make changes to their Account settings.
