it does work yes

you don't use on_behalf_of as that isn't what a "Direct Charge" is

instead you create the CheckoutSession on the connected accounts

The specified Checkout Session could not be found. This error is usually caused by using the wrong API key. Please make sure the API keys used to initialize Stripe.js and create the Checkout Session are test mode keys from the same account.```

that usually means you created the CheckoutSession on the Connect acct but your client-side Stripe.js is only set up with your Platform API key. So a mix up of API keys mostly.
