Hey! Indeed, this is a precarious solution. Card networks do indeed support something called 'incremental auth', which we offer on in-person payments with Terminal: https://stripe.com/docs/terminal/features/incremental-authorizations
However not something we currently support for non-present transactions
Our general recommendation in these instances is to initially authorisation for a higher amount
