Hi there! A dispute will always result in funds being withdrawn from the balance. If you balance is negative, then when you issue refunds they will go into pending as you stated. You can test this using the test cards here: https://stripe.com/docs/testing#refunds
@crystal stump so a dispute can never be pending correct? Lets say our balance is 0 but there is a 100 dollar dispute, we would get the balance transaction and the balance would go to -100 correct?
Yes, if the charge was $100 then your balance would actually be $-115 as there would be the dispute fee as well.
would those funds come from Stripe if an account balance is insufficient?
And we would be indebted to Stripe
You are required by the ToS to have an attached bank account that can be debited.
So if your balance goes negative, then your attached account will be debited for that amount.
If you maintain a negative balance then it is possible that your account will be shut down. But I can't really speak to that and if you ned more info on that front you will want to speak to our Support team.
Thanks that makes sense. Would that bank debit be immediate in the event the balance is not enough?
What would happen if the bank account is negative?
Sorry for these really specific questions, just trying to cover all the cases. Thanks.
The debit will occur at end of day each day that you have a negative balance.
If that debit fails, and you can't repair your negative balance, then your account may be closed.
kk thanks. As far as the "balance transactoin" for the dispute is concerned, the process is the same right?
We wouldnt get any special record. Basically just a dispute record indicating the chargeback funds.
Thank you for your answers. Have a great day.
Yes the above is correct
