Hi there 👋 really interesting question. We don't have any metrics on how often that happens. I'm trying to think through what that would look like in the wild, and I think it's going to depend on the issuer's system.
For example, if the issuer requires 3DS, but their 3DS system is down or unreachable, then that payment will likely need to be handled as any other invalid payment method.
But, I'm not sure if issuer's would have a way to avoid asking for 3DS if their systems are down.
gotcha. mostly curious about how often we should expect this to happen. if it's super super rare, maybe an error message is enough. otherwise we should probably direct them to another payment option.
This is honestly the first I've heard this topic brought up. So I don't think it occurs often, but that's purely based on my anecdotal experience.
