Hi there! You can only refund as much as the charge amount. However, you would be able to refund them the full amount, including the fees, from within Stripe. How did they pay the extra amount you are referencing?

Okay so I was using a crowdfunding site and they use Stripe as the payment processor. So when they "donated" they paid 25.

ATB Boostr is the crowdfunding platform, Stripe is their payment processor, but as the campaigner I have to have a Stripe account so the money comes to me and not the crowdfunding platform. I have 2 refunds to issue, but when I try to from my Stripe account it only allows me to refund the amount minus the fees
but I have to issue a full refund

You can issue a refund for the full amount of the charge, which includes the fees.
Where are you seeing that you can't refund the full amount?

Ah okay so the issue here is that you aren't actually issuing a refund to your customer at all... you are refunding the transfer from the platform (ATBBoostr)
You need to reach out to them to help get the end-customer refunded

Else all you are going to do is send money back to the platform and not actually send money to your customer.
I'm sorry they referred you here. They have an integration that we don't recommend for exactly this reason.
As it doesn't let you control refunds at all.

Yes they are the only ones that can issue the refund here.
No we can't issue refunds on behalf of merchants accounts. The merchants have to do that themselves.

Yes you can show them that they are using Destination charges, which you can see a diagram of the funds flow here: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/destination-charges#flow-of-funds-app-fee
That shows that the Charge is on the platform account, so only the platform can refund the charge
