Hi! If you place a hold on a card, when you capture the funds there will be no authorization.
If you saved a card with setup_future_usage, then next time you try to charge the card there may or may not require an authorization, that's completely up to the issuing bank. So you'll need to handle both cases.

thanks @zenith prism for Quick support
It means if card is secured,

  1. For capture funds, i always need customer help for actual payment
  2. Customer help requires and depends on bank as you said.

When you place a hold on a card, there are two steps:

  • Authorize the payment, that may require 3DS
  • Capture the funds, that should not trigger 3DS.

I want to authorize some payment before customer purchase from my store, i.e $500
When customer has done, he can come to admin and present exact amount to capture.
If customer leave without contacting admin after shopping. Admin should be able to capture authorized payment

I assumed we can capture amount which is equal or less than authorized amount but not more than that right?

I'm sorry but I'm not sure I understand exactly. Here's how placing an hold on a card works:

  • You place a hold on a card, let's say $100. At that time there may be 3DS.
  • Then you have 7 days to capture the funds. It can be $100 or less.
  • If you don't capture the funds after 7 days, we cancels the authorization and releases the fund
