It is not recommended but I think it is still possible

shell maple

Why is it not recommended?

Would you say there is a chance that standard accounts will be deprecated in the future. (It does seem unlikely since most companies I've come across use standard accounts)

These are flows that are not recommended for a variety of reasons due to how standard accounts work, the refund flows etc. If you're using Standard account we recommend direct charges.

shell maple
#

But direct charges are only supported in the US aren't they?

small belfry
#

No, what makes you say that?

shell maple
#

nvm. I thought you were referring to something else

#

Also...

#

How can I allow users to revoke access?

https://support.stripe.com/questions/standard-connect-with-platform-controls

Account holders will also see the following changes to in their Stripe Dashboard:

You cannot disconnect the platform that administers your account.

#

What are you trying to do, overall? You seem to be bumping up against a number of things. Can you explain your use case?

shell maple
#

Sure.

#

I'm creating a service like Buymeacoffee

#

For a niche market

#

Sorry, I have a lot of questions

small belfry
#

OK, so in that case the account is controlled by your platform if you want Stripe to manage all the onboarding and bank info, and there is no disconnection

shell maple
#

So how would I implement disconnection?

#

Some platforms don't have the revoke access button greyed out.

#

And there is disconnection on my end because I can revoke access

small belfry
#

Generally, don't. That only applies to connecting to pre-existing accounts. If you're creating account, you don't I saw in the other thread you were using express accounts, which you can simply stop using when no longer needed.

shell maple
#

So how do services like Buymeacoffee allow user's to disconnect their accounts?

#

Same with quora and substack?

small belfry
#

They likely connected to pre-existing standard accounts before things changed last year

shell maple
#

Uh no.

#

Because I connected to Buymeacoffee today.

#

And it allows me to revoke access

#

See above ^^

OK, thanks, I'll have a look at extensions.

small belfry
#

NP!

shell maple
#

Stripe has so many nooks and crannies

#

Dayum

small belfry
#

We have a lot of functionality, it can cause confusion sometimes yes 🙂 We're always working on improving that

shell maple
#

Uh. wait a minute

#

I've been doing that

#

This entire process has been by following the extension guidelines
