Hey! I'm not 100% certain, but my expectation is yes it will still function assuming the associated Payment Method object still exists
Got it. For Google Pay we were told that it will not be possible since Google Pay shares only a virtual account number with stripe. so if the associated card is deleted, the payment method in stripe wont work
Is there a way to know this for certain?
Test it 🙂
Yes certainly it is. It would have been great if we have these information in the documentation.
I presume Apple pay too does not share the actual card with stripe. am I right?
Well both Apple and Google Pay 'tokenise' the actual card data. They don't have the same data as the physical card
Okies, one more question, does Stripe support apple pay in China?
For Chinese customers?
Yes, Does it differ for chinese customers and others in China?
We just follow the supported Apple Pay countries: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT207957
We don't impose anything different
Apple Pay offers an easy, secure and private way to pay on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac.
(sorry, wrong link)
hmm, https://stripe.com/docs/connect/payment-method-available-countries#apple-pay
says apple pay isn't supported.
However apple documentation says it is supported in China mainland
That's the merchant country, and we don't currently operate in China
Apple Pay will work for customers based in China
sorry, am bit confused right now. could you please explain it further
Stripe does not currently support Chinese based merchants, which is what this link is referencing: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/payment-method-available-countries#apple-pay
However if your customer is based in China, then Apple Pay should work based on the Apple document
You can test this here: https://stripe.com/docs/payments/payment-element
Select China from the dropdown
okies, so apple pay through stripe won't work in China
am I right?
I mean, we won't get apple pay button in Stripe checkout if we access it from China
Yes, it will
again sorry, could you please answer both questions separately so that I can understand better
