it appears for me at least
oh that's weird, we have been scratching our heads for this
so it's something in your browser. Are you actually using Google Pay specifically? that means, you need to be using Chrome, logged into a Google account, and with a live card on https://pay.google.com/gp/w/u/0/home/paymentmethods
the generic payment request button can work with just cards saved as autofill details in Chrome, but in Checkout it is specifically a GPay button
you mean the button in the below one is generic payment button
yes
when I use a live card in stripe test mode
will it be charged?
or how that works for testing
I mean to use with google pay
it won't be charged no, if you're using test mode
Okies, Let me try with the live card. since google pay was working on the https://stripe-payments-demo.appspot.com/ we thought that problem would be something else
and get back to you shortly
Hello again
added a live card, however still am not getting google pay button
are you logged into Chrome itself?
yes
Not sure, try restarting then? There's also a setting on chrome://settings/payments (Allow sites to check if you have payment methods saved ) so make sure that is turned on. Ultimately the button work for me and it will work for other customers so it's just something local to your own set up.
will try restarting
whatever I do, its still same
am trying this from India, dunno if this could be a cause
oh yes, it is
we don't support Google Pay in India
because in India people expect Google Pay to be Google's local version that uses the UPI banking network, which we don't support, we only support this card-only version of it , so we disable it to avoid confusion
ah, am not building for india. so how can test in this case. whatever I do stripe preselects the country as India
Even if I use VPN, still stripe preselects India as the country and I think that could be the problem as you mentioned
not much you can do unfortunately, if we detect you're in India we won't try to show the button. I'm surprised a VPN doesn't work, maybe your VPN is not active or something.
How does stripe knows the am from India, so that I can try to override it
is it using my ip or something else
as far as I know it's the IP yes
