How are you adding the trial to the subscription? Are you adding it during subscription creation (like setting trial_period_days or trial_end) or are you setting it on the plan object?

I am using trial period days = 7

On the subscriptions, correct? If so, then updating the subscription from one price to another should be perfectly safe and shouldn't start another trial.
