#Trish - Connect Questions

its not connected to any platform at the moment ...it used to be 2 years ago but i believe i removed it.
how do i check that?
You should be good to go then, the new behavior only applies to connecting to multiple platforms that perform write operations on your account at a time. You can verify you're not connected to a platform by looking at this page in your Dashboard: https://dashboard.stripe.com/account/applications
let me check
looks like i did not .....the platform is from 2017 - if i remove it then i do not need a second account correct?
the new platform is the same one
Yep, if you disconnect from that platform you should be able to connect to a different one.

If you're already connected to it why would you want to disconnect and reconnect?
i dont but that company is telling me that based on stripes documents i need a new one but looks like they are wrong
they are saying they read thru stripes documents
I recommend letting them know you're already connected and see what they say. It's possible you would need to disconnect and reconnect for some reason, but I can only guess as I don't know what that platform is doing.
this is what they told me "We took a deeper look at the revised Stripe documentation to see if we could use an existing account, even if it is not connected to any other platform. "
They took a deeper look and what? What did they find?
I am going to remove the current access - is there anything u need to do to make sure no platforms are connected to my account
now i have no authorized platforms
deeper look prolly means they read more
Can you please check my account (they are asking this) that is will allow me to add a platform that has read_write scope via a standard connected account. They are telling me that all your documents say this is not possible after june 2021
I can't verify that here as this is a public chat and I can't verify your identity here, but if you're not connected to any platforms you should be able to connect to one now.
the document they are reading is titled: Platform controls for Standard accounts
somewhere on that doc it says "starting in June 2021, platforms using oAuth with read_write scope will not be able to connect to existing accounts"
I know the document, yep. I think I'm a bit confused because it sounds like they're saying something won't work that hasn't been tried yet. Can you try the connection and see if it works as expected?
yes I will ask them to try.
Thank you very much I will come back here if there is a problem
Sounds good, good luck with it!
i am not sure why there is such a push for me to get a second account do you?
I think there might just be some confusion about the ~new behavior, but I can't say for sure.
is that document only for accounts that have multiple platforms connected?
Pretty much, yes.
They are asking me to ask you this: "will it convert the account so that 'platform controls' are enabled.
and they said they no longer connecting accounts via OAuth.
I don't have enough information to answer that, unfortunately. Would it be possible to have them join this thread so I can talk to them directly?
i am asking
they have a meeting in 3 minutes they cannot but i am asking what time they would be free
they will let me know
In the meantime have they tried to connect? Has it worked?
they are saying they have to look into what, if any, implications connecting to an existing account has on their platform. I dont understand it either ...if there are no other platforms connected then its like a new account right?
Yes, seems like it would be.
ok i will be back....many hours from now sorry about that but will get you an update
Sounds good. By then this thread will likely be archived, but you can ask in #dev-help to have it unarchived when you get back.
ok
I have a question. If i create this new account i saw a section from that doc. which references controling payments...there is a note under it which say to contact you guys if I want to restrict a platform from being able to make their own payouts. How do i do that and what do i need to do to restrict the platfrom from doing that
That's something you would need to contact support about: https://support.stripe.com/contact
thank you
